INTRODUCTION TO ICKM

Knowledge Management has become an important initiative discussed and undertaken not only by business organizations but also by other types of organizations dealing with consultation, research and education. It provides an alternative approach that enables an organization to integrate and use all its intellectual resources using advanced information and communication technology. The expected result of this initiative is an improvement in the organization's overall performance, innovativeness and competitiveness.

Knowledge Management is a timely investment in many organizations. Knowledge Management provides a systematic process of finding, selecting, organizing, managing and analyzing information that improves the quality and capacity for research, consultancy, teaching, and publications. Data mining, work groups, and artificial intelligence have become indispensable tool to communities of experts who share and utilize knowledge in their research and publications. The knowledge management system also enables organization to efficiently manage, maintain, and enhance their knowledge assets, and to apply business intelligence to increase the value of their key processes and products

Whilst it is a work culture, knowledge management is also a strategy embodied in the policies that organization policy makers make to firmly bind information and knowledge in all development planning and decision making in all the core businesses of the organization. Knowledge generation and knowledge utilization must bring the best of professionals, academicians, consultants, and policy makers in a joint effort to improve teaching and learning in the university, research, consultancy, publication, and extended services.
